You always have the best titles. I was saving last week’s article until I could give it proper attention.

You are also gradually building a Vancouver Island trip itinerary for me. Those displays look incredible. I had a cousin who planned to learn taxidermy, and I don’t know if you watch horror but Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities on Netflix had a great episode featuring a taxidermist. I am so interested to hear more about your workshop once you’re finished!

YOU ARE TOO KIND!!! That is honestly so sweet you were saving the last article.

If you ever come over I'm SOO happy to give you a list of recommendations and get coffee/visit the museum together if you wanted (or not bwaha I can also just give a rec list!)! It's a really lovely museum, although slightly crippled right now due to funding dramatics (long story but the Indigenous exhibit is temporarily closed and some of the BC History wing also.) But the natural history gallery remains untouched and I LOVE IT!

I'm not one for horror, unless it's anime, but I am also extremely curious so I might give it a try maybe with subtitles on / audio off in the daytime hehe. Thanks for the rec! And I'll definitely update with my little rat once it happens!

I LOVE this idea. Holy shit taxidermy sounds so cool! What a perfect path for a nature lover!

And I really relate to your feelings of burnout. I have been struggling with that a lot lately too. And you’re in BC as well!! That’s so great I didn’t even realize that! We’re so close!

Aaah thank you! I'm excited/nervous to try it - I hope it goes well.

It's honestly hard to be working under capitalism these last few years - the struggle is so real. I'm grateful I get to work for myself/from home and have a lot of flexibility but it's still hard when the job doesn't inherently bring joy.

And yes!! I'm just across the pond in Victoria :) If you ever come over to the island, feel free to let me know!!

Wow—what an incredible story about exploring new interests Emma! You wrote about taxidermy in a way that wasn't creepy but more artistic and scientific. Whether this will be the next big career shift for you or not, I wish you all the best in your quest to reignite your passion. Looking forward to following along in your journey!

Aww thank you so much!! I was honestly concerned everyone would unfollow after this one BWAHA. But looks like I'm safe. I will definitely update as things go!

I'm so excited for you that you've found this possible path!! It's also such interesting framing that this would be adjacent to/building off of your passions but not directly your passions. Maybe that really would be key to longevity in a career!
